The East Lake House is located in Montauk, a village in the eastern tip of New York's Long Island, also includes weekend coastal vibes with its own rough-sawn cedar planks which were left untreated for aging. Have a peek at this!
Instead of building an oversized house in the center of the property, the team created two dwellings which are situated on the edge. One serves as the major home, along with another encircles guest quarters along with a garage/boathouse. Such an approach leaves space at the middle of the property, making an unobtrusive scale and a general texture.
The residence was also oriented in a way that maximizes viewpoints and catches breezes. Front elevations, which confront a street, are rather opaque, although the rear facades have large expanses of glassoffering ample views of the water. The group chosen materials with an eye on how they will weather over time. Exterior walls have been wrapped untreated, rough-sawn cedar planks which will take about the darkened hue of driftwood. Even the hardware is intended to show its age.
Indoors, light-toned finishes are paired with dark components to be able to create an atmosphere that feels serene and lively. The home's steel structural frame was abandoned visible, as were ceiling beams, that have been painted white. Rooms are outfitted with white oak flooring and modern decor, along with special accents such as handmade grey tiles.
External, the central part of the property has a pool and cabana, which are surrounded by marijuana. About the narrow strip of property between the principal home along with the water, then the staff included indigenous plants as opposed to a lawn.
