This canal home in Amsterdam was constructed at the beginning of the 17th century and it was completely remodeled and redesigned to match contemporary dwelling. The architects chose to make it very unique with a cool thought: setting a patio at the middle of the home and organizing all the spaces around it. Let us take a look at this exceptional home.
The difficulty was that there was not enough daylight in the home, and creating a patio in its midst in addition to creating extra large highlights solved the issue in a creative manner. The patio is used to arrange all of the spaces that allows it to feel really spacious. The entire program, such as bedrooms, bathroom, walk in closet and kitchen are all located around the patio. As a result of its own, there is enough daylight and fresh atmosphere and a private outdoor space from the home. The final result is a glowing and lively open floor plan which suits the life style of these people -- open but personal.
The designers included a few light-colored timber for much more coziness black touches were added for depth and drama. The furniture is modern and mid-century modern, comfortable and fashionable, in muted and earthy tones.
The home feels quite airy and light-filled, the designers were able to show that even lack of windows could be dealt with directly to create a light-filled space.
